ACLU and Al-Qaeda: A lot alike except that we're not

Good times, good times: "Facts, or smear?" This article includes the following from Dover school board member Ron Short: "I fear the ACLU more than I fear Al-Qaida."

Doesn't Ron know how cute and cuddly we are? Especially cute?

Meanwhile, in the parts of the world not called The Twilight Zone, reality-based columnist Mike Argento of the York Daily Record had this to say in his latest column, "Intelligent Design's plea for help":
Fuller said intelligent design is, essentially, a half-baked idea, pretty much something the intelligent design guys have whipped up without doing much in the way of producing evidence.

And that's why it should be taught to ninth-graders in Dover.

You know, I can come up with a lot of half-baked ideas that no one in their right mind would want to teach to kids in Dover. Let's see. How about this? Cows think in Spanish. Discuss.

Finally, here's John Cleese as Dr. Michael Behe in Monty Python's flying creationism.

It is an ex theory, it has ceased to be!

How does the popular phrase go? Lies, Damn Lies, and Creationists!

The ACLU takes a near absolutest position on the freedom of speech. Because of this, the organization represents a lot of unpopular clients -- the KKK, the Nazis and yes, NAMBLA (the national man boy love association). In 2000, when NAMBLA was sued over something they wrote on their website, the Massachusetts ACLU took on their case. The funny thing about the letter send out by incumbent Dover school board members is that if someone tried to legally challenge their right to send out that letter, the ACLU would be the first to defend the school boards members' right to send it.

Creation, according to the Bible, is an account of ID. In order to prove the existence of anything there must be 5 elements: time, forse, space, matter & motion. Genesis 1:1 says: " In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth." Now there is a scientific staement that has all 5 elements!
Evolutionists teach that their is no God. Just like Hitler! If there is no God, there are no rules!
Eternity is a long time to be wrong!

Look what the evolutionists have produced over the past few decades. Are we too stupid to see the results of a society that indoctrinates its youth against God?

Yes. Look carefully. It's not what anti-evolitionists think.

Much of the really bad stuff is associated with religious movements.

Why is the ACLU so insistent that our students NOT hear all views concerning the origin of man and the universe?

And what does Genesis have to do with anything? Evolution has nothing to say about Genesis, the Bible or anything else religious. If you can not accept the answers derived from rigorous, tested theories then that is your perogative; however, you have no right to impose your religious viewpoint on those that do not accept them. This is what Al Qaeda does. You have ample time to teach your own progeny about your religious viewpoint, but using state tax dollars and a state venue to coerce others to your belief system is against the Constitution of the United States of America and immoral in my opinion. Evolution does not care about your religion and is completely insensitive to your rigid, unreasonable beliefs. It is not religious in any way. Just because I reject your religion, does not mean that I am immoral and just because evolution contradicts your beliefs, does not make it religious. And Hitler was an uber conservative just like the neo-cons in power. Funny how you equate rational thought with Fascism when Fascism is the rejection of rational thought.

It's also a long time to be right.

And eternity is a long time to spend with one god. Doing what? Talking about how he screwed up creation?

The idea that somehow understanding science leads to immorality is a false dichotomy. And as far as what "evolutionists" have wrought, well, I didn't see any divine revelation of the microchip, organ transplant, vaccinations, any field of engineering, and the list goes on.I did, however, see a report on yellow cake uranium arrive ex nihilo...

To address edm's revisionist history:

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people.

-Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922 (Norman H. Baynes, ed. The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, April 1922-August 1939, Vol. 1 of 2, pp. 19-20, Oxford University Press, 1942)

Hitler used Christianity to spread ignorance, as you do today. Get your facts straight and try again.

Besides, everybody knows that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the true creator.

The issue is what is taught in science class. Religion is not science. Reducing a concept to then a miracle occurs or someother non-explanation is not science. If you want to teach that in philosophy, comparative religions, or some other non-science class, that's fine. THAT is the ACLU position.

Hope that helps.

Hey, why don't the religious people keepin up on this just explain how the creator did what he did? Becuase Darwin explained how his theory works, why don't religious people explain how creation works? It just happened? Poof! At least w/ evolution you can see progress of how it would work, and can logically explain how it came about. "Somebody" made it, just... you know, there's that lingering question, where did that somebody go? What did he leave for? To test our faith? Or our patience? Or even our memory? I don't remember the greeks worshipping 1 god. If one leads to another and another, why are we to blame when we start looking to our environment(What we can see, test, observe)to determine what got us here in the first place? We can show how it could happen, we can experiment it. But the thing is, if we design something as intelligent as ourselves, where would we go? Those intelligent beings would know us, see us, and interact w/ us everyday, and we'd interact back. Our creator doesn't interact back? Did we in fact destroy it? Very possible, it's within reason of the theory. I'm not saying there is no God, but why would he need to keep track of everything? Supposedly he gave us free will, but if he gave us that, why not let a lot of things go on doing their own thing? It's not out of reason for what God might want. And if you want religion in schools, a lot of schools already have it... except it's polytheism, called greek mythology. We can have religious courses, but why in science class?

One was in the Daily Item newspaper, others were in smaller publications that don't print online. He's preaching this stuff in his Baptists church, calling local persons who disagree w/ him "Satanists" really causing quite a stir. I anxiously await this weeks small town paper. If he says anything good I will add it here. I am not sure if he will write again as folks with IQs over 75 are responding to him and giving him a lashing.
I'll be sad to see this case over. It sure has made reading the newspaper more entertaining than ever.

I would like to remind you people who actually believe in that ancient book of myths called the bible that pagans (translated as country folk) were writing moral codes and laws way before the old testament was written (enter Code of Hammarabi into a search engine.
Also the oldest know writing tells the creation story which was pagarized and handed down to form the book of Genesis (The Enumma Elish)

There is too much sex in the Judeo-Christian bible to teach it in school. Consider King David -- having a soldier killed so he could have sex with his widow. Teaching the Bible wouldn't jive with abstainance until marriage education.
