Olbermann: "Beginning of the end of America"

More reaction to President Bush signing the Goodbye to American Values Act (I'm trying to come up with a new name each time I write), this time from Keith Olbermann:
For, on this first full day that the Military Commissions Act is in force, we now face what our ancestors faced, at other times of exaggerated crisis and melodramatic fear-mongering:

A government more dangerous to our liberty, than is the enemy it claims to protect us from.

Ten years ago when Olbermann was on SportsCenter and I was broadcasting minor league baseball in Hickory, North Carolina, I never could have imagined that the day would come that I'd be posting Olbermann's commentary on America's most basic constitutional principles on a blog for the ACLU of PA. But here we are, and I'd imagine that many of you never could have imagined that we would be where we are today, defending the mere existence of the Constitution.

He says it very well.

After listening to his talk, I'm left stunned. I knew about the bill, and I naively thought it would blow over, but Keith Olbermann puts it in a chilling historical perspective.

Let's pray that the next president does two things. 1/ is to charge "W" as an enemy combatant (by then, he will be responsible for more American deaths than the hijackers). 2/ Kill the bill.

Cheers, Neil.

I think we should all buy an "Unlawful Enemy Combatant T-Shirt" and start wearing it on a set day this fall sometime. Sort of like the King of Denmark and his Christian subjects did during the WWII occupation when they all wore a Star of David to protect the jews. We should all do the same. But maybe the best thing is to vote Democratic November 7th.

Vote Democratic? Have the Democrats stopped the war now that they have a majority? Hillary belongs to the same power elite club (the CFR) that Cheney does! We need to put in the White House the only man who represents the people, rather than the military/pharmaceutical industrial complex - the only true defender of the Constitution and our liberties, Ron Paul.

All you Democrats need to change your registration to Republican, at least long enough to vote in the Republican primary and help make certain that he gets the nomination. None of the rest of them, from either party, are going to repeal the Patriot and Military Commissions Acts, get us out of Nafta, Cafta, and the WTO, prevent the loss of our national sovereignty to a North American Union, stop National and Real ID turning us all into branded cattle.
